The Ben Ezra Synagogue was the site of the famous Cairo Geniza. A collection of around 400,000 Jewish manuscripts and documents that catalogue 1,000 years of Middle Eastern and North African history. This is thought to be the most diverse collection of medieval manuscripts in the world!
